Our Story

Founded in 2009, Full Pint Beer is one of Pittsburgh’s original craft breweries. In January 2021, Dan and Carrie Franklin purchased Full Pint Beer with the intention of sustaining the current beer catalog, as much as possible, while introducing a variety of new beers. They brought Jim Simmons, aka Bobby Nacho, on as their head brewer. Dan and Jim were avid homebrewers for over 20 years and have several beers that have shown well locally and nationally.

The first project was to completely renovate the existing brewhouse. The team added a new floor, complete automation system, new canning line (filling 24 cans in just over a minute), and a truly unique piece of equipment in our filter press. One of only fifteen in the country, the filter press allows Full Pint Beer to brew some traditionally difficult beers using traditionally difficult ingredients. The filter press also provides much greater yields.

Next we got to work producing beer! We worked hard to get our beers out to local distributors and we open our Outpost Retail Store on Memorial Day weekend 2021. We are proud of our partnerships with local distributors and restaurants.

In March 2022, The Outpost taproom officially opened with a full beer and food menu. The menu is built to have something for everyone, but focuses on wild game sausages with gourmet toppings. In addition to unique beers and food, The Outpost features many activities for all ages, indoor and outdoor.

We hope to see you soon! Remember it’s always a great day for a Full Pint Beer!
